Backup Not Completing Clean-up Functon

Thread needs solution

I have a daily File backup of the Documents folder scheduled for 0615 daily.

Backup Scheme: Custom
Backup Method: Full
Store more than 1+ 4 recent versions of the backup
Do not delete the first version of the backup.
Auto-Cleanup: ON
Validation ON (when created)

The destination disk is showing 6 backups. I would have expected no more than 5 (1+4). I'm guessing I've done something wrong in creating the task.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes, you are correct in your expectations.
The Feb 10 backup should not be there.
What should be there is the first backup created by the task as permanent and 4 most recent.

Any the task the original unchanged, unedited version? or was this adjusted along the way?

Watch if for the next few iterations and see if it corrects itself.

It is possible that I may have edited the task at some point although I do not recall what/when it may have been. I have read many of your tips including not editing a task (create a new one) and am trying to incorporate your ideas into my workings.

I'll keep an eye on things for a couple days. If no change, I'll create a new task and folder for this backup and see if that works.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It appears that ATI is only keeping the 4 most recent backups now. However, it is also keeping the 1st two backups for some reason.

When creating the task, I selected the check box "Do Not Delete the First Version of the Backup". For some reason it wants to hang on to the first 2. This is certainly not a big issue because it appears to be doing what it should now. Just curious that it wants those first two retained.

Could it be that ATI is designed to always save the first full backup it does AND it is saving the second full backup because of the check box selection I made?

I have no idea why it is keeping #2. Was this script edited in Notepad by yiou adding to the tib name?

The checkbox to keep original should keep only the one--unless it was edited.
Have you checked the email notification or the log files?

I may have edited the task (not with Notepad though) within ATI. I simply can't remember. I remember revisiting the task options after creation so I may have made a change. Just not sure.

In any event, I'm satisfied with what it's doing now. I may set up an identical task (different name & destination folder) with identical options and see what it does.

Thanks again for your help GroverH!
