Backup Profile Settings Wont Save

Thread needs solution

Hello
I have recently installed TI 2015 but when I create a backup profile and save it is gone the next time I run TI. The backup works fine but the profiles just disappear and the default one remains.
Any ideas?

Martin

I reinstalled TI and the profiles that I created previously have now reappeared!

Does TI store backup profiles locally or in the registry? I was wanting to make a backup copy of them.

I had a similar problem with my TI2015, and I have the same problem with my TI2016.

The situation is that the backup profiles go lost sometimes - appearently without any reason. The backup data was still there, and I was able to append that backup data to my TI2016 profiles. This enabled me to make a restore; however, the detailed backup options (e.g. files and directories to be excluded from the backup) were not recovered. Only a deinstallation and reinstallation fixed the problem, and I had to redo the backup profiles. Great!!!

I discovered now a couple days ago that such - appearently random - situation occured after I had opened an existing backup with a double mouseclick (and not with the TI mounting feature). Access to such directly opened backup works fine - like a shortcut to the TI mounting - but I suspect now that this might be the cause of the problem.

Can anybody confirm that?

Hello, everyone.

The issue described by Martin was a known problem in True Image 2015 up until the latest update.

PaulBe, if I understood you correctly, all your backup plans disappeared from the user interface of True Image at some point, is that right? Did it happen more than once? How many backup plans did you have? Where were the backups stored?

Hello Dmitry,

Fortunately, only the backup plans (including all their parameters) had disappeared; the backups which reside partly on internal partly on an external HD were still available and intact.

However, TI allows to add a backup to its internal lists, but this does not recover the backup plans and their relating parameters which seem to be residing in some (very much) hidden location in the active system: A recovery of a system which had been backed up very shortly before the backup plans disappeared would also bring back all backup plans in their full beauty.

Hello Paul,

Glad, that you've resolved the issue. I've added this thread to the request for Export\Import settings function.

Thank you,
