Backup to a QNAP 509 Pro NAS from Outside Windows

Thread needs solution

I have a QNAP 509 Pro NAS. I also have Acronis True Image 11 Home.
I want to perform a full image backup of my hard disk and store it on the NAS. No problem here.
I now want to be able to boot up using the Acronis Rescue disk and restore my hard disk (ie outside Windows)
I can't seem to do it.
The Acronis explorer shows me my hard disk and a network folder. When I click on the network it expands to show an NDIS device.
When I click on this it asks me for the ID, which the QNAP does not have.
I have since found out that QNAP does not support NDIS.
So, how do I access my backup on the NAS from within Acronis?

Hello Mark,

Let me assist you.

Most likely, Acronis Bootabel Media detects your NAS drive as NDAS and that's why it asks for NDAS ID. I may recommend you to try the alternate bootable media to overcome the issue. It contains a different hardware drivers set, so it should work for you.

  1. Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
  2. Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:
  3. Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media;
  4. Click Download;
  5. Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.

If the new media created with the downloaded ISO image won't work for you either, please provide me with the following information:

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
