Backups are not what I expected to see

Thread needs solution

Ok, this is either really strange or something is going awry in the backup process.

We have 4 machines that backup weekly on Friday after 5PM. Spread two hours apart to allow the time for a full backup each time rewriting the old one. Over gigabit line I don't think it takes too long seeing as the partitions are only roughly ranging from 40-80GB.

However, after testing a batch of backups last Tuesday it seems to be creating a strange file name and the data is immense. For instance here is the smallest of the backups created from a Dell e6500 being stored on a hidden share folder on a 5TB partition in a Server 2008 Ent environment.

tdavis(1).tib_DCD9AAE4-9169-4E42-BFEB-245A3EBC8067.tib and its and extra 19 GB on top of the original.

I have checked and rechecked the settings and its not set up to create an incremental backup nor is it set to make anything other than a full backup and delete its predecessor.
Thanks for reading.

Tony

Does it behave if it isn't to a hidden folder?

Are there any Exchange or database transactions occuring on the PC's at the time of imaging?
