Backups not deleting after 8 days

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis TI SMS Server running on Windows 2003 server. The backups are happening as scheduled each day. I have set up the removal of backups after eight days. So far none of the backups are being automatically deleted. The log shows the cleanup utility has run successfully. The older backups are suppose to be deleted before running the current backup task.

Hello Chad,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience.

It looks like malfunction in Acronis scheduler, so I would recommend you to start investigation from updating Acronis Scheduler.

  1. Download Acronis Scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service:
  2. Extract the downloaded file and run install.bat. The utility will automatically update the service;

See if the issue is resolved. If it is not, then please proceed with steps 3 and 4:

  1. Reboot the machine;
  2. Recreate the scheduled tasks.

If the issue persist submit support case and attach the following diagnostic information:

-  Get Windows System Information File;

-  Get Acronis Scheduler Report:

  • Download either the EXE file or ZIP archive;
  • Copy the schedmgr.exe file to the root of your C: drive
  • Click Start -> Run, type in cmd, press OK and issue the following command:

C:\schedmgr get report >  C:\schedreport.txt

-  Get Acronis Scheduler Log:

  • Run the schedmgr.exe file by double-clicking it;
  • Enable logging by using the following command:

set logflags support

  • Reproduce the issue;
  • Acronis Scheduler Log will be named schedul2.log and placed to \Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2

-  It is recommended to turn off logging after troubleshooting by running schedmgr.exe and issuing the following commands:

set logflags 0
set lf_registry on

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

I am running Home 2010.

I have scheduled a new Incremental backup after 10 backups, with the deletion of the old backups.

It is not happening.

Is the replacement scheduler universal to all Acronis products, and should I try it?

Hello John,

Let me assist you.

The link that Dmitry provided is only for Acronis Backup&Recovery product line and moreover it's already an outdated version of Acronis Scheduler.

Please use this link to download the latest version of the updater, run it and check if the issue still persists. If so, please reboot and create scheduled tasks from scratch.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
