Backups from Old Machine to New Machine

Hello,earlier in the week,I posted about a computer that I couldn't boot and if it was shot completely .Make a long story short,purchased a new machine and we are repairing the older box to use in another room,if it works.

My question is I have full backups on a HP USB removable drive-from a 32 bit Vista Home Premium machine-the old one.The new machine is Windows 7 and its 64 bit.I'm interested in saving some music and pictures.How to go about this?Reinstall ATI 2010 and try and retrieve the files?Or can this be done without Acronis?Thanks.

Install TI2010 on the new machine. Connect the USB drive. Then use Windows Explorer and treat the backup file like a folder, i.e. 2-click on it to open it and drill down to where you have the pics and music.
