Backups taking place at the same time - a problem?
I have 4 backups set to happen every day at 1am. Should I set these apart (say, to start every 5 minutes), or is having them start at the same time fine? Will starting them at the same time cause errors?

Why will ATIH 2012 NOT queue manually started backups? 2009 used to.

Don't know why it doesn't on your machine; it does on mine.
What exactly happens when you click on start backup for two diff tasks?

Pop up box:
"Failed to run now: task not executed"
Points to Knowledge Base : http://kb.acronis.com/content/32493?nocache=1
this ends by saying:-
"Cause
Another backup task is already running.
Solution
You cannot run two backup tasks at the same time.
Wait for completion of the task in progress. Then start a different task if necessary."

With 2012 home, I created a backup for each logical partition - basic partitions on Windows 7 x64 (C:, D:, E:, F:). They had no schedule, and I would manually run a backup when I wanted. If I wanted more than one backup to run, I would start the first one and then also start the second, which would queue up and run when the first backup finish. I could manually start all and every one but the first would queue up.
I upgraded to 2014, and I can no longer queue up manual backups. If one is running, and I attempt to start the second, I get an error stating that another backup is already running (same/similar to Hythe Boatman's post).
Has something changed so queuing manual backups can no longer be performed?
On a related note, is it possible to create multiple manual backups and then have a "master task" that invokes all the others? This would eliminate having to start every one individually and run them sequentially until completion. It should also allow for a computer shutdown once all backups have been completed. Scheduled backups are not an option, so this would be useful.

You can't make a task that runs the other tasks.
You could include all three partitions in one task but you wouldn't get three separate backups, just one backup file. However, you could restore individual partitions form that file.

How about starting one backup and then starting others so that they queue? Doesn't work with 2014, but did with 2012.

One thing you can try would be to create a desktop shortcut for each of your 3 tasks. Then click shortcut on each in succession and see if your backups become queued.
