Backups will not run as scheduled in XP SP3 at Shutdown

MY experience has been that running TIH 2012 backups at shutdown have always worked in XP. However, on this newer install it simply refuses to ever run. Acronis says the Acronis System Report shows nothing.
Not getting any errors. I can manually run the backup. After setting up the backup I can choose "run later" and then choose restart Windows and the initial backup will run. But it never runs another backup. I've uninstalled, ran the Acronis Cleanup Utility, check the registry and then reinstalled but no luck. The backups always successfully verify.
Been going on since early March.
