BartPE and Safe Media Plugin for TI 2009 Will Not Install

Thread needs solution

I have TI 2009 v9746 installed and working properly. The BartPE and Safe Media Plugin will not install. I get an "Acronis Installation Error #1625" every time, even when booting up into Windows XP SP3 Safe Mode. I have full computer administrator privileges. I do not get this error with any other install, including TI 2009. Is there an available FTP directory where I could download a zipped version of the BartPE and Safe Media Plugin folders? I have perused all available forum resources in my attempt to get this plugin installed.

Hello David,

I will do my best to solve the issue you experience with BartPE and Safe Media installation, but first we should investigate it. In order to investigate the issue and find solution please attach MSI log file to your next reply.

Creating MSI log file:

1.      Launch BartPE and Safe Media addons installation file

2.      Once the Acronis product installation screen appears, right-click on the name of the component that fails to install. You should see two options there: Install and Extract. Select Extract

3.      Select the path for extracting the component and click Save

4.      Go to the Run prompt (Start -> Run);

5.      Issue the following command:

msiexec /i msi-filepath /l*v log-filepath

where msi-filepath is the full path (including the file name) to the file you extracted in steps 2-3 and log-filepath is the full path (also including the file name) to the log file you want to save the output to

The /i and /l*v parameters are separated with spaces from msiexec and msi-filepath

For example, msiexec /i D:\AcronisFolder\AcronisTrueImage.msi /l*v c:\log-name.log

If there are spaces in the path, please put the path in quotation marks. E.g,  msiexec /i "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\AcronisTrueImage.msi" /l*v c:\log-name.log

6.      Reproduce the problem and send us the log file created during the installation.

There can be a lot of reasons for the issue so I may advice you some workarounds that you can try.

- First of all I mentioned that you are not using the latest build of Acronis True Image Home 2009 which is 9809. I recommend you download the latest build from your account under Registered Products and install it, then download addons from the same page.

- Try cleaning up the C:\Documents and Settings\[Account Name]\Local Settings\temp folder.

- Shut down the Windows Installer service and then re-register it. This makes sure that the Windows Installer engine functions properly. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type msiexec /unreg, and then click OK.

When this process is complete, click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK.

When this process is complete, try to install software once again.

- Try redownloading the installation file and running it again. As it can be downloaded incompletely at first time.

- Try to install as Administrator, right click on installation file -> Run As -> Administrator

I have sent you PM message with requested addons in case you will face difficulties downloading it from your account.

Let me know if the issue resolved or in case you have some questions.

Thank You.

I have WinXP SP3 Home Edition with all current security updates.
The computer is stand-alone, non-networked home computer with Cable modem internet access.

I followed your instructions with the following exceptions:

Trying to install the TI 2009 v9809 upgrade gives me the same error window (see attached image_1404.jpg).

Run as... does not prompt me with Administrator (see attached image_1406.jpg), although I have Computer Administrator privileges in User Accounts.

I have no trouble downloading the addon and TI update. Neither will install. Both give me the same error. No other software on my system that I ever installed gives me this error. I have TI 2009 v9796 installed and it works fine. I suspect, though, that if I uninstall v9796 and then try to re-install it that I will be promtped with the same error window. I have disabled all anti-virus/anti-spyware, along with everything else running in my system tray, but I still get the same error window when I try to install the addon or TI update.

Hello David,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Let me help you with the issue.

I may suggest you the following way to work around the issue:

  • Uninstall your current build of the software completely by the means of Acronis Clean-Up utility. Check this KB article for the detailed instructions.
  • Reboot.
  • Install the latest build #9809 of the software: first Acronis True Image 2009 and then BartPE plug-in.

Please let me know if the issue still persists.

Thank you.
