Bitlocker Issues

Thread needs solution

I installed the trial of Acronis True Image 2013 and it was working fine. I also had the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager enabled. I then wanted to turn on Bitlocker for my C: but it would not allow me to do so. I kept getting the error "TPM measurement is missing".

The only way I was able to fix was to remove Acronis Startup Recovery Manager and then restore the Win7 MBR by following the instructions here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20864-mbr-restore-windows-7-master…

I want to know, now that Bitlocker is on, if I reenable the Recovery Manager will this cause more problems again? Is the reason I ran into issues because I didn't have Bitlocker enabled first before turning on the recovery manager or installing TI2013?

If you turn on Bitlocker, don't use ASRM. After the encryption is done, you can backup from Windows any disk that is mounted. Remember that ATI will see an unencrypted disk and therefore the image data will be unencrypted. You can compensate by encrypting the backup TIB file using ATI.
When you restore, your restored image will be unencrypted. You might have to repair the startup of the computer, then reencrypt the disk.

If you backup an encrypted disk using the recovery CD< make sure you select the sector-by-sector option. Your image date will be then encrypted. You can only restore the entire disk.
