Both Backup Archive Explorer & TrueImage Backup Archive Explorerin Device Manager

Thread needs solution

I recently upgraded from a much earlier version of Acronis to TrueImage Home 2012. I had to go into the Device Manger (win XP SP3) for another reason and saw that I had:
Acronis Backup Archive Explorer (with the yellow !)
Acronis TrueImage Backup Archive Explorer

I assume that Acronis Backup Archive Explorer (with the yellow !) is a left over from my previous version. The device status is:
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Before I uninstall, I wanted to check as I've read some horror stories of folks deleting the archive explorer and not being able to boot up.

Can I safely uninstall Acronis Backup Archive Explorer (with the yellow !)?

Yes, go ahead and uninstall the yellow one.

The older version was Acronis True Image Home® version 9.0 (build 3,854).

Wow, thanks. That was so fast, I didn't even get my other post in.

I also noticed today a similar issue, but only on one machine, which makes me wonder which is the "correct" version to keep.

Both my and my wife's machine run the same version, Home 2011, Update 3. I thought they had both got to this version by the same path, of installs, upgrades, etc. But cannot be 100% certain.

On my machine, I have the 2 entries described above for:
Acronis Backup Archive Explorer (with the yellow !)
Acronis TrueImage Backup Archive Explorer

The drivers associated with these are:

Acronis Backup Archive Explorer: timntr.sys (4.0.0.610, 11/21/2011)
Acronis TrueImage Backup Archive Explorer: tifsfilt.sys (4.0.0.525, 10/26/2009) and timntr.sys (4.0.0.610, 11/21/2011)

Interestingly, the Driver File Details, in Device Manager, says that timntr.sys is NOT digitally signed under the TrueImage device, even though it uses the exact same file in both cases.

Now, her machine *only* has the Acronis Backup Archive Explorer device defined.

Based on the dates of the files, I think it should be the TrueImage one that is removed. And I'm guessing the Yellow ! is because there can't be two copies loaded, and the "wrong one" got there first.

Cheers.

From within the Device mgr, uninstall them both and rerun the install program and choose install.

Once the install program starts, you will be offered a repair option and this repair will overwrite your existing install with a fresh install.
