build 9809 blows the OS
I have Windows XP Home, Sp3 with all updates. Also, I have Acronis True Image Home 2009, build 9646.
A couple of months ago I tried updating to build 9809 and I got a blue screen. The OS blew so badly that it cost $180 in the shop to rebuild the OS including the mother board drivers! Then I installed TI and recovered from a backup.
Like an idiot, I just tried it again and got a blue screen again!!! Fortunately I was able to delete 9809 in add/remove programs and 9646 was still intact.
What's going on, here?

Thanks for the response.
My computer is custom built:
Processor Main Circuit Board
2200 megahertz AMD Pentium 4
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache Board: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. A8V Rev 1.xx
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 0226 03/15/2006
The BSOD occurred while in Windows. The screen was pretty full of text and I didn't hang around long before hitting the reset button, but it said something about shutting down to prevent damage to Windows and then it started doing some kind of memory dump.
I'm trying to shift this to the other forum. Hope it works.
