Can I clone my SSD to a USB 3.0 external HDD for booting from USB?
OK, I purchased two 120GB OCZ Agility 3 SSDs that I want to add to my existing Windows 8 Pro/WMC single drive. I'm not able to create a RAID0 and boot into my single SSD boot drive as there are no drivers installed for RAID yet.
My goal is to clone/reimage my existing install and clone/reimage it to my USB HDD then bot from the USB HDD. If successful, I plan to go into the BIOS and enable/configure my RAID0 then boot back into USB HDD and load the Intel RAID drivers.
Is this possible, or does the Intel driver affect my USB HDD?
If this can be done, is there any speacial instructions I need to configure the USB HDD to boot/clone?
Thanks in advance

Thank you.
First question is: How large is your single drive environment right now ? If its bigger than 120 GB, you can't clone. Period. It won't fit. But if the total space of your single drive environment is smaller, then I would do this:
1 Make an image backup of your current environment on to your USB3 external disk.
2 Make sure you have built an Acronis recovery disk.
3 shut down your system and install your new SSD's
4 During boot, set up your Raid environment (Mine is Ctrl-I).
5 You also want to be booting from your Acronis Recovery DIsk
6 When your booted up, restore your your backup from the the External disk.
7 When completed, boot up your new system.
I also assume that you have currently installed the Intel raid drivers and associated raid management software.
That should work.
Now your old single disk environment will come up offline (because it has your OS on it and only 1 OS is allowed). Trying to use data management to get it erased could cause you alot of grief. What you may want to do is, before you restore to the SSD's, remove the drive. After your system is up and running, Remove the Disk that's in your USB 3 enclosure and replace it with the your old single disk environment. You then can use data management to reformat it. Then you can re-install it if you desire.
Hope this helps.
PS: if it doesn't fit in the 120gb environment, then you will need to do a clean install of window on to the SSD's.
