Can I use TI 10 to restore from disk/partition images created with TI 9

Thread needs solution

Just upgraded my TI 9 (French) version to the newer 2010 True Image (English).

Do I need to recreate my disk/partition images using TI 2010, or can I safely restore from the one I created with TI 9. I would obviously prefer to avoid the hassle of having to recreate everything !

By the way. booting from my TI 9 rescue CD and using the recommended full version (with USB, etc drivers) failed to recognize my 2 HDD (SATA). I had to use the safe version which worked, but I could'nt use the mouse, so I was pretty awkward most notably to select drives and images.

Will TI 10 rescue CD full version work and recognize my HDs. Looks like this is an issue mentionned in this forum.

Glad I had a backup partition on my 2nd HD, else I would have been stuck in dispair.

Hello Michel,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.

Using Acronis True Image Home 2010 you can safely restore, mount and explore backup archives created with Acronis True Image 9.0 Home, check the following KB article for more details. I would still recommend you recreate at least one full backup of the entire system using the latest version in order to avoid possible troubles in case of disaster.

The issue with hardware recognition concerns lack of drivers under Acronis rescue media. I have sent you ISO image of Acronis bootable disc which is based on different loader and has better hardware support via PM. It will definitely solve the issue. I may recommend you create bootable disc using Acronis True Image Home 2010 and see if the issue persists.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

The bootable rescue disk created from ATI 2010 worked perfectly, my two SATA disksand USB hardware (external CD drive, mouse) were recognized and worked perfectly

Since this worked I indeed recreated full backups using ATI 2010, but I prefer to know I can also go back to old archives in case I need to recover old deleted files ....

Thanks for the help.
