Cand create disk image of Sandisk SSD U100 disk

I'm trying to use Acronis 2012 Build 7133 to make an image of a Sandisk SSD U100 disk in a LuvPad Windows 7 tablet PC

I can boot from a USB and then try to backup to a larger HDD. The backup should be about 12GB. Acronis initially estimates 8 minutes. After about 5 minutes this goes up to 5 hours and then drops back to 8 minutes. It keeps repeating like this.

SSD properties show:
Sandisk SSD U100 32GB
Serial ATA
Total size 29.82GB
Bus 0, Device 0, Location 0
Sectors/track 32
Heads 255
Cylinders 3,893
Formatted as 100MB NTFS sytem reserved (Pri,Act) and 29.7GB NTFS Pri.

I have tried both normal backup and sector by sector. Also tried backing up the 29GB partition on its own.
