Cannot Activate Latest Update to ATIH 2012

Thread needs solution

I posted this in a few other threads but got not responses, so I apologize for starting a new topic, but I really need a fix.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I just installed the latest version of ATIH 2012. I already had ATIH 2012, but there was a newer release so I installed it. Unfortunately, it would not install on its own, so I first had to uninstall the version I had then install the updated version. That also didn't work using the Win 7 control panel method, so I had to use the ATIH 2012 Cleanup Utility to finally get it to uninstall. The installation of the latest version then worked fine. However, after it was installed it didn't recognize that I had a registered copy so I needed to activate/upgrade it. It asked for my serial key, so I gave it my ATIH 2012 upgrade key, it then said since it's an upgrade it would need my previous key, which in my case was ATIH 2010 (also an upgrade, from 2009). In any event, when I entered that second key, the "Activate" button was no longer greyed out. However, when I click on it nothing happens. I clicked several times, and even restarted ATIH 2012 and tried again, but no matter what I do I don't get any response after clicking "Activate". What's up?!? As things stand now it will only work for 30 days, this is really frustrating (not only all of the steps I had to go through to simply update the software, but now the fact that it won't activate). Any help out there?

I should also mention that after the installation/upgrade described above I don't actually have an "Activate" option under the Help menu, but a "Upgrade to Full Version" option. It is after selecting that option that I get the dialog box regarding serial numbers described above. I downloaded the latest version via my Account Login page on the Acronis site, so I really don't understand why it installed things as a "trial" in the first place. In any event, this is really pissing me off and if I can't find a solution I'm going to ditch Acronis for good. I've been using it for about 5 years, but it seems like each new version get worse and more unstable. Does anyone have a recommendation for a better piece of software with similar features if I wind up going that route?

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for your post. I will definitely help you with this issue.

If you cannot activate the serial number through the program I would recommend to activate it manually. Please check the following KB article in the section - If the new computer is not connected to the Internet.

I am going to send you a private message in a few minutes with additional information because of the confident nature of activation and serial numbers.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I am having the exact same problem. In my case, I installed the trial version of ATIH2012, and am now trying to update it to the full version. I activated the trial version, and therefore there is no "Activate" entry under the help menu. So I can't follow the instructions shown in the KB article. Please tell me what to do.

To Anton Deev,
I would be really interested in the solutuons you offer Thomas Hultquist above. Can you please post that here. I am having the same issue, and have been through the same cleanup process and get stalled at the activation step. One suggestion I read was to redo the uninstall and cleanup, then use msconfig to disable all non-microsoft services, as well as all firewalls, then try the reinstall/activation. What do you think Anton? Seems like a good suggestion and a lot of work??

Is another build of ATIH due out soon to resolve this one??

I registered my copy online, so I know my serial keys are good. One area of concern is that as it is at present, Device Manager says that the Acronis Backup Achive Explorer drivers are not loaded, so i feel like the unactivated product is not fully functional. Is that a concern, or just a detail that automatically comes right when it is Activated

Look Forward to your comments
