Cannot boot Acronis CD on MSI H61M-E23

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I have a problem with a new ZooStorm PC (model 7872-0273/A) which concerns booting into another OS other than the supplied Win7 64 bit. (from CD)

ZooStorm are just not interested in even considering the problem, they say "we do not support Linux" and "we do not support 3rd party SW".   Even though the 3rd party software is Acronis TrueImage SW. The significance of Western Digital Corp (WDC) & Acronis is that the machine was supplied with a WDC 1TB HDD and WDC support Acronis SW.  In the past I have used Acronis SW with WDC internal and external HDD's up to 750GB for disk backup - very happily for years I might add, TI Home 2010 at present.

However, this is the first time that I have encountered an advanced format HDD.
some details;-

HDD: WD W10EARS 1TB
Motherboard MSI H61M-E23 (B3)
BIOS: AMI V10.8 05/23/2011 (10.9 available)
CPU: i3 3.10GHz

Windows Disc Management Console reports that the drive partition style is MBR.
I thought it might be a GPT type, but apparently not.

Next I ran the Acronis "Align" to check for any misaligned partitions - no problem there.

Used the MS Disc Management Console to shrink the large 'C' partition, thus providing an OS and a Data partition that are both less than 500GB. Checked that alignment OK - was. No change.

Linux Mint 11 will not boot from the .iso CD. on the ZooStorm mch.
but will on other machines both Intel and AMD mobos

If one uses the installed (on ZooStorm) Acronis Align Media Builder to create a boot CD the resulting CD will not boot on the Zoostorm mch but will on other machines.

In all instances of boot failure the error msg indicates cannot find disk drive. Yet Win7 boots and runs fine.

Can anyone cast any light on this problem?

Thanks

Isn't this motherboard using the UEFI BIOS?

I think this is the issue with your bootable CDs...
