Cannot browse older backups from TI2009 and WinXP
I cannot insert file- and folder-type .tib backups made using True Image 2009 and Windows XP into my CD reader on my Windows 7 machine and browse through the individual files of the backup set, or even view a listing of the files that are there. What I CAN do is use True Image 2012 to perform a restore function using those older backups. In fact, I have used many of my older TI2009 backups to perform successful restores using TI2012.
When I say that I cannot browse the older backups, what I mean is that Windows 7 asks me if I want to view the files on the CD. When I click on that option, it displays the title of the backup. When I click on the title, it opens up what appears to be a typical Windows Explorer screen with the usual Favorites, Desktop, Libraries, etc. displayed in a column to the left. In the title bar, it says >Computer>DVD RW Drive (D:) Acronis Media>Desktop.tib [for example, when I insert a backup of my desktop].
But nothing appears in the big window. In the indormation line at the bottom, there is an icon of a drive and "0 items." But the actual backup does not have zero items, because I have used it successfully to restore.
Anyone know how I can browse these backups, either using Windows 7 or True Image 2012 itself? If not truly browse them, at least get a listing of the individual files and folders that are in the backup set?

Thank you for your thoughts, James F. Unfortunately, I could not make them work.
With the .tib file on my hard drive, I tried both left clicking it and right clicking
and selecting "Open." Both those options gave me a blank main window in a
Windows Explorer-type window.
I also tried right-clicking and mounting the backup. I got an Acronis message
"Specified archive cannot be mounted because it contains no partitions."

If you are in ATIH 2012 for Windows, from the Backup and Recovery tab, can you browse for your backup and then "Add the Backup" to the list?
If you can add it to the list of backup tasks, you could then try to "Explore and Recover" by clicking the gear icon on the right hand side of the backup in the list.

Thanks for your idea, James F.
Initially, I will note that, for some reason, all the backups that have been listed in the main window
of "Backup and Recovery" have disappeared. So it is now blank.
I was able to "browse for backup" and choose "Add backup to list." Something of noticeable size was copied to the hard drive. This worked to the following extent: The backup did not appear in the main window. But if I clicked on the "Recover" button, I got a small window labeled "Data Recovery." The subject backup did in fact appear in that list. But the only option in that window was "Recover Now." I tried clicking on the backup, right clicking, and dragging it . . . nothing worked.

seeker1,
Are you not able to drag or copy .tib files from the media to a destination on your windows7 system? I'm thinking file attributes or anti-virus. Possible?

Late news flash, James F.
The reason my backups had disappeared from the main window in "Backup and Recovery" was that the gold star had been clicked on. I clicked on it out of curiosity and, voila, the backups re-appeared (including the "subject backup" previously mentioned).
I had success! You were very close. The gear that appears in the line of the backup was no help, but the two gears at the top of the screen included "explore all backups." That choice took me to the timeline, where I was able to explore all the listed backups.
Thank you for ideas. Problem solved!

The Gold star is a favorites indicator. If you click a star on a task in the list it then becomes a favorite. When you click the star at the top, only the starred backups show. Glad you "found" the solution!
