CANNOT DO SIMPLE FILE BACKUPS

Thread needs solution

I had recently purchased this program after trying the trial version. Imagine my surprise when, every time I attempt to do a simple file backup (I only wish to backup specific files etc.), I receive an error message? The simple, nothing backup software that came with my backup hard-drive could do this blindfolded. I paid a lot of money for this software, only to discover it is useless. The error message that pops up when I attempt to complete a SIMPLE file backup is as follows: "Error occurred while resolving Windows library". WTF? What in hell does that mean?

I am considering asking for my money back. If a FREE program can do this task, and Acronis True Image 2014 cannot, then why bother?

Did the trial version work OK, and this has only happened once you either unlocked or installed the full version of the top?

What is the error message you get?

Could you please explain your setup as in where the iamge is going to be stored, how that is connected to your PC and what it is you are imaging or backing up.

Is this a Files and Folders backup, NSB, Sync or partition/disk image?

The trial version worked fine. Yes, it happened once I turned the trial version into a full version once I purchased a licence. See my previous post as to what the error message says.

I have an Seagate backup drive. It works perfectly so there is nothing wrong there. That is where I would be storing the backups (E:\). It is connected to my laptop via USB. I had intended to back up only files/folders. The Seagate Drive Manager could do this without a twitch. FREE backup programs can do the same, but NOT this wonderful Acronis True Image 2014 which I paid for. As a result, I am backing up the entire C:\ drive (image), which I did not wish to do. I should not be forced to back up anything just because they way I wish it to be backed up does not work due to faulty software. I'll be asking for my money back.

I suggest downloading the full installer file and run a repair install. The only difference between the trial and full version is the installer, the actual program is the same. Nevertheless, it is possible for somehting to have become corrupted during the unlocking.

Are you using XP? There was a non fatal problem with TIH 2012 and Windows Libraries as of course XP doesn't have them.

In this case with the 2014 version, this is incorrect. I downloaded the trial, and the regular version, compared the digital certificate from VeriSign and did a bit by bit comparison. The 2 installers are identical files, named different things.

Just an FYI.

Whooaahh,

What I meant is that the trial installer accepts trial serial numbers, I don't think the full installer accepts trial numbers, but I haven't checked this.

Pondering on this, as Acronis have now offered the similar option to ABR11.5 of changing serial numbers from within the program, there is no longer a need for two different installers.

Just successfully installed 2014 using the full version installer from my personal registered license using the trial key I got when registered for the trial using my work email address.

Just thought I would update the thread.
