Cannot identify C:\ as target in Boot Media
Hi:
My Windows 8.1 laptop (Clevo P150SM) has been with the seller who was pursuing a recurrent blue screen of death. They replaced the memory. On return it was working fine with their activation number and I tried to reinstall the Windows 8.1 DVD so I could use my number but I could not get beyond a Style Note screen as it attempted to restart. I assume this is the motherboard indicating that it is diagnosing and attempting to repair the PC.
Using the Acronos TI 2013 Boot Media DVD I successfully installed an October TI (2014? It was registered in March 2014 could be 2015?) image from a USB external hard drive. It worked fine for a day or so and then I attempted to perform a fresh Windows 8 install but again, the Style Note screens came up, still failing to repair and I could not reinstall Windows.
I then used the 2013 Acronis Boat Media DVD and was able access the backups on an external hard drive as well as an internal hard drive but this time as opposed to before, the Boot Media screen does not recognize or offer a target, the SSD C: drive. I restarted and have done this several times still cannot find a target. The letters are different, and maybe I don’t recognize it. There are 3 items in question. I’ve tried all 3 and one at a time without success. I didn’t have this problem the 1st time the Boot Media allowed an install.
I will greatly appreciate any suggestions.
