Cannot Open the Encrpted Stream

Thread needs solution

Have tried unsuccessfullt to use Online Backup since January. When scheduled to run it does not and just produces error - Cannot open the encrypted stream.
I have deleted profiles numerous times and tried again with no luck. I have now tried it again without using encryption password in the profile and it seems to be backing up now, although this wasn't a scheduled backup, just the initial on. Is the problem with the encryption? Is it safe to back up without the encryption enabled.
I have used Acronis for years and this Online Backup is really a sorry piece of work versus their other software.

Hello,

Let me assist you with this situation.

According to the error message it appears to be the issue with encryption algorithm.

You can use the product without the encryption - your data will be stored in the safe place anyway.

We would like to investigate the issue, so could you please do the following?

1. AcronisInfo tool output:

- Download the file;
- Run the downloaded file
The gathered information will be put in adv_report.zip in the same folder, where the AcronisInfo was saved.
Running AcronisInfo may take up to 5 minutes.

2. Collect PCAP logs according to the article.

Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the issue appears and the link to this thread. Then please provide me with the case number you receive from our system, so I can pick it up and speed up the process. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

I could possibly send you the AcronisInfo tool output, but I am not going to install wireshark and do packet analysis or whatever it is you want. I am paying for and getting extremely fast internet speeds, never a problem. I do not want to be a Beta tester for software that I paid for in good faith. There is something or a lot of things wrong with Online Backup - all you have to do is look at all the unsatisfied people with unresolved issues in the forums. Is there anyone who has good results? I have alternately started using Mozy Backup to do the job I paid Acronis for and haven't had any problems. Backups work when scheduled - data moves fast - no disconnections or other issues. So instead of blowing smoke rings and asking for packet analysis and letting people assume the problem is on their end, when it isn't, I suggest you fess up and admit you have a sorry product.
I don't suppose I could get a refund so that I can pay my Mozy bill?

Hello jlje,

We're really sorry for the difficulties you've experienced with our software.

I've requested a refund for your purchase and you'll get your money back in 5-7 business days.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.
