Can't clone any more
I have never had a problem being able to clone my entire hard drive until recently. I have changed the SATA setting from IDE to AHCI, and that is the only change I have made. I don't know whether or not this is causing my problems. Now when I try to clone, it goes through all the motions of selecting the source and destination drive setc, and then tells me it needs to reboot. When I press on "reboot" it restarts to the point of starting Acronis Loader and then the computer just goes to a blank screen with no cursor or anything. It then just stays like this until I reset. Can someone please help me?
Cheers,
Wolf.

Thanks Pat L for your reply, but please excuse my ignorance, how does one go about using the recovery CD to clone a drive? I have only ever done it through windows.
Cheers,
Wolf.

Gemini57,
Boot your computer on the recovery CD. You will see a linux-version of ATI, in fact very similar to the 2010 version on Windows. You can clone from there if you have the full version of the software. CLoning is not available with the trial version.
Note that when you use the CD, ATI will show drive letters that are different from the ones Windows typically assign. Look at the drive labels or other characteristics to ensure that you select the right disk as the source and the right destination. Too many users get confused and end up cloning an empty disk on a full disk, leading to total data destruction.
If your destination disk is not the same size as the original, I recommend you choose the manual cloning method. This will allow you to specify exactly which partition to scale, or not, and, if you clone to an SSD, will help you ensure you leave a 1MB offset before the first partition, and that each partition has a whole number of MB as size (these 2 criteria ensure SSD disk alignment).
