Can't complete a backup
I have a newish Win7Pro 64 bit machine. I have several problems with Acronis, so TBH, I am reluctant to upgrade to 2015, in case I find the same errors. Every time I go to the knowledge base, I get "There is no information about this error available now"
To list my problems, starting with the easier ones first.
It seems to be looking for the previous backup, even though I am doing a full backup.
If I set the backup to delete older copies automatically (whether I set so many days, or so many copies, makes no difference) it just ignores that command, so I have to remember to delete them manually, otherwise (obviously) the disk gets full and the backup falls over. However, if that was the only problem, I could live with that, but....
Every time I run a backup (to an external drive according to the bar it finishes the backup, but I (presumably during the validation) then get a message to tell me that there is an error. I thought that there may be a problem with my drive, so tried another - got the same result. To say that I am frustrated, is an understatement. I also do a backup to an internal drive. That seems to succeed sometimes, but not always..
I have the backup set to backup two drives, so I thought that may be the cause of the problem, so I separated them - makes no difference
I also have a laptop machine, on which I am still running the 2011 version. I run a backup from that to an external drive as well, and that works fine. I just purchased a new laptop, so that one is about to be decommissioned. Hence, this would be a good opportunity to run 2015 on both machines
As I said, unless someone can assure me that I won't have the same problem with the 2015 version I won't be upgrading and will be researching another backup system for both machines

If using a Win 8.1 system, only version True Image 2014 and 2015 are compatible.
You may find my AGh-1 hints helpful. It has been my experience that the most frequent cause of a working task to cease to work correctly is the user using the "edit settings" option and making changes. Once the task is created, then leave it alone without further edits. If edits need (other than schedule changes), stop using the old task and create a new task--pointing to a new storage folder or sub-folder. Tale the advice of MVP Scott and start over with a new task.

My experience has been that cleanup works (when properly set) and the progam will perform the deletion of older files which exceed the user retention number of chains. I have 3 examples below
GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.
Note/example: If rule selected is "Delete older than 7 days" is selected (not the best method) , deletion will not begin until the first chain (7 files) is completed and entire chain is older than 7 days.
No one can provide any guarantees because so much depends upon the user.
Do take the time to know your systems and view them in Windows Disk Management graphical view so you know their type, location , size, etc and know whether your old and future systems are MBR or GPT style partitioning.
