Can't create task

Thread needs solution

Workstation with Windows XP Pro SP3 including last updates. TI Home 2010 Build 7154 (German). Avira (free) is running as AV-app.
The workstation is connected to a server (all applications are on the workstation, only data is on the server).
Problem: When trying to create a scheduled task, the task is not created. There is no error message, nothing. After entering all settings and finalizing the last screen, the "create"-window disappears and that's it. The just created task is nowhere.

Checked, proceeded and tried until today:
-The service (in system-settings) is running and is set on automatic
-Schedmgr.exe was downloaded and the recommended commands were executed. After this procedure: Still no creation of any task possible.
-Trying to set the backing destination to different locations (on the workstation, into a location in the network or to external media connected to the workstation): No success.
-Uninstalling TI, reboot the computer, re-installing TI, reboot the computer, trying to create a task: No success.

I beleive now, that's somewhere in Windows, but I don't know where and what. Can you please shed some light on the situation?

Do you see the created task when you run schedmgr.exe "get list"?

Thank you Pat for answering!
Yes we see all created tasks there. No one is shown under Windows.

Peter,
If you can see in schedmgr, that's enough. They should run. Nothing else is going to show up under Windows task scheduler, for example.

Sorry, that's not a solution of the problem!
If I'm having a list of several different tasks, I want to see all tasks all the time in the list of the planned tasks in the GUI of TI and not in a crude DOS-window. So please tell me on how to solve the problem (it is still an unsolved problem!).

Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, you should see them in the GUI of TI, no question about that. I thought you were talking about Windows Task Scheduler.

So, in tasks and log, task management window, you don't see the blue squares indicating the upcoming tasks? And there is nothing under "scheduled tasks"?

No, there is nothing! Tasks are executed and AFTER execution of a task a square is marked. We're having only "scheduled tasks" (no other ones).

I am running out of ideas. I know there have been incompatibility issues with Avira, but this was for the non-stop backup. There is related but not quite similar thread here, where an update to the scheduler is recommended.

Guess, it can't be a problem with Avira, 'cause otherwise this problem would be known since a long time (there are alot of users around the globe who're using Avira and Acronis TI).

Now we've tried to fix the things on installing the scheduler according task 9609 without success. After installing and rebooting no way to see the planned tasks in the GUI of TI. All tasks are still in DOS-window under schedmg.exe. So we deleted again all tasks there and did a re-init as described before. Re-booted the computer, went back to the GUI of TI and created new planned tasks. No way: Invisible in the GUI.
Is it possible, that somebody from Acronis can take over this thread now?

Hello Peter and Pat,

Thank you for your messages and thank you for helping Pat.

Peter, I will do my best to help you with this issue.

In order to get to the bottom of it, I hope you do not mind, can you provide me with the following info, it will help me understand why the tasks fail to show in GUI:

1. From the program GUI from the Tasks & Logs tab, a screenshot of the Scheduled task tab and Unscheduled tasks tab.

2. Create one more backup task the same way you always create it and please make 1 more screenshot of the Scheduling option under Optional steps.

3. Please generate this report.

4. As a temporary workaround, try disabling your anti-virus, create 1 more backup task and check if it appears in the GUI. This will also help us localize the issue.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,
thanks alot for helping out in this issue!
Meanwhile the user uninstalled TI2010 and bought and installed TI2011. The problem is no more shown in TI2011 and guess, all tasks created with TI2010 are shown now in the GUI of TI2011. This is also a big mistery for me (I uninstalled and re-installed TI2010 several times on that computer)!
So the task can be closed now.
Thanks again!
Peter
