Can't Mount Tib

Thread needs solution

In Acronis Tue Image 2014 and earlier I could never right click a tib file in file explorer to open it because the mount option was not there but I could mount it with a tool in Acronis 2014. I have now upgraded to Acronis 2015 and I still can't mount a tib using file explorer and the mounting tool was removed from 2015 so now what? I Googled a long time looking for a fix but to no avail.

I still have almost 30 days to ask for a refund and reinstall version 2014 unless someone has a fix for me. I even looked for a third party tool to open a tib file and couldn’t find one. I need the ability to mount a tib if I ever need to recover a few files without having to do a full restore.

My Acronis 2015 is on Windows 8 with build 6613

Never mind my above post because I got it working. What I did was install a menu context editor which I think was called shexview. The context menu is what displays when you right click on a file. The program showed what was enabled in the context menu and a whole list of things that were disabled. I found an entry for "Acronis True Image Shell Context Menu Extension" and it was disabled. I enabled it and rebooted the PC to be sure.

I then right clicked on a tib file and Tue Image was there on the menu but when I clicked on mount I got an error and it suggested I reinstall Acronis which I did. I again rebooted and this time I successfully mounted a tib image by right clicking on it and choosing True Image/Mount.

I am now a happy camper. I hope this post may help others with the same problem. How the Acronis context item was disabled is anyone’s guess. I probably did it by accident years ago. Evidently by upgrading Acronis it doesn’t enable the context item.

You might also try from inside the Windows Explorer,
double click on the tib file to be explored.
A window should open inside the backup showing the start of the directory tree.
You can just keep clicking the path deeper and deeper into the tree until you get to files you wish to access.

TrueImage needs to be installed in order for this to work.
