Censorship
Acronis back to their usual tricks of censoring posts which reveal their shady practices.
What happened to this thread?

It's disparaging to inform others that Acronis do illegal things with their customer email addresses and show no regard for their privacy?

tuttle, maybe you have some thoughts and opinions about the contents of that thread which raises a valid concern (e.g. the tweeting about their "friends from Anturis" and then the sharing of addresses for marketing purposes), instead of just commenting here that you "haven't seen the thread" which doesn't really add anything to the conversation.

As I already said, I no nothing about the specifics of that thread as I haven't seen it. I just recall some of your past behaviour was inappropriate and you were warned by forum administrators.

So you've commented here before even clicking on the link in the first post to see what that thread says?
Clearly, I see that you don't wish to comment on the actual matter, perhaps because it can't be defended.
And no, I've never posted anything inappropriate. If you were honest, and could bring yourself to read about the actual issue and do some lateral thinking, then surely your only response could be that what Acronis have done is inappropriate. But let's see if you're able to do that. I suspect it's difficult for you to deviate from rushing to their defence. You find it easier to take issue with me personally.

Dude, the thread is gone. It cannot be accessed, so I can't view it.
You did indeed post angry, hostile messages when you arrived here, and since then. I recall you being warned. You're also passive-aggressive, purposely trying to incite trouble and then throwing up your hands and pretending you have no idea why anyone disapproves of your behaviour. We prefer to maintain a civil atmosphere in these forums, as you well know.
I'm now done with this thread.

Whatever, I just post factual content. It's only you that's ever taken offence. My advise to you is to not take comments about Acronis personally. Bugs, lack of response from the company, questionable marketing/sales tactics, etc., whatever the issue -- these things are not your fault. It's OK for us to highlight the things that Acronis do wrong, when they do them, to make them and others aware.
Anyway, below is a copy of what I posted in the other thread which has now been removed:
I use separate email addresses for each service / company, and I was disgusted to receive the below email on 14 November to the email address I used specifically for my Acronis account only, meaning it was definitely Acronis that shared my email address without my consent.

Tuttle,
You did a great job in answering, what appears to be an attempt to aggravate...
I also noticed an attempt to "inject" his company links and ads... I'll be sure and refrain from ever visiting that website or company.
The MVP's and other forum helpers are a great bunch. Always willing to help us out, no matter how much personal effort is required.
I thank them for being here and using so much personal time to assist us when problems and questions arise.
They are not to be bashed !

Perdido, the "Ilya Sidorov" part of that message is the name of the spammer. It's the text I copied from the spam email message I received.
Did you think it was my name, even though I said "the below email" ? And did you think I'm from Anturis even though I was complaining about Acronis supplying email addresses to Anturis?

STOP!!!
Right now!!! STOP!!!
All of you!!!
I started one of the threads that was censored, and I offered a reason as to why the other thread was possibly "infected". I knew my thread was open for censorship and it has nothing to do with anything you may imply that happened before.
The simple fact is the problem "as I identified it" has been fixed by Acronis and it MAY have caused the second issue. the fact that no-one noticed before it is a different matter. I hope Acronis have learnt something...
Hopefully never to be repeated. I have done some basic checks and everything is as I hoped it would be...
This is not censorship, it is correct classification of the issues at hand.
@Grindax - not everything is about you, I gave you a possible explanation of how you got the emails you got...done, dusted...unsubscribe, Create another account with a new email as is your want...I doubt it was Acronis. I showed you how it could have happened.
@tuttle - grow up and ignore the past - not every event of today is based on the past. Did you not hear about the boy who cried wolf? Yes it bit him in the ass...but those that ignored him, at the end of the day...they sowed their own seeds of turmoil.
This conversation STOPS now!!!
The moderators have done a wonderful job, they sorted the problem, and have removed (in accordance with Terms of Use) unnecessary posts not related to product. I hope they will allow this post to remain until such time as those subscribed have read and digested the contents.
My job is done, the site is now secure (for now)...watch this space...
With kindest regards
Seán

@Sean, your censored message was only partially related. Not everything is about you. My original thread was started long before yours, and the issue you identified likely had nothing to do with the spam email. Anturis didn't come along to the forum and steal email addresses using the method you highlighted. Anturis is a "friend of Acronis", and what Acronis did was give them a list of email addresses of their customers.

Sean, Steve,Tuttle, thank you very much for your inputs.
Grindax, I understand your concerns and would like to assure you that I will clarify the situation.
Thank you.
