changing backup strategy

Thread needs solution

Hello, i am running a custom backup which is based on differential backup.
Every 14 days i run a full backup. The rest of the time a differential one. The backup runs every day.
Meanwhile the backup has now 72 version.

After a while i realized that i want to change a few settings. I changed to run the bakcup just Monday-Friday, set the maximum size of the backup to 900GB and to validate the backup just right after creation.

But Acronis won't let me change the settings.... It starts to compute something. After a while it stops and the settings are back to the settings i had before.

Can anyone tell me how to change the settings in an acronis compliant way? Or do i have stop the backup and create a new one? But then the old backups won't delete automatically after the 900GB mark is reached. Than i will have two separate folders and will have to delete the backups from the old backup folder step by step as the new backup will create new backup files.

what should i do?

thank you all in advance

When you want to change the backup name, destination, scheme, and retention rules, it is much better to create a new task. Although ATI allows you to make these changes, they can throw ATI off, and they certainly increase the chances of confusion/errors at restore time.

Rather than setting a space limitation, try setting it based on the number of backups you want to keep. Adjust the 6 and 4 examples to fit your needs.

TrueImage never deletes the old until the new is created so you must always allow additional space for the temp to be first created.

Having a lot of diff files could be a waste of space. My suggestion would be to create a full backup (= new chain or new version) more frequently so the diff would start over on the most recent full.
