Changing security settings in mounted image

Thread needs solution

I have True Image 2012 installed in Windows 7 and performed a system backup as I updated my laptop. I'm now trying to restore certain files from my backup image. I can mount the image but I keep hitting various permissions issues that I don't seem to be able to modify on the mounted image. If it weren't for the constant program crashes and/or hangups I might be able to get some of my files restored. Does anybody have a solution for the permissions issue?

You can't really modify the backup file. Are you trying to restore files to original locations. Do yo have rights to those locations? Are you restoring as an administrator?

have you tried booting for the bootCD and restoring select files to desired locations?

If you mount in Read/Write mode you should be able to make changes. Also, make sure you're browsing the correct folders. Browsing junction points will not allow access, for example. If you looking for Documents browse under the \Users\[name]\Documents folder instead of \Documents and Settings.

In read/write mode, any changes are saved as an incremental backup file -- one more thing to keep track of. ;)
