Clean TI and start over

Thread needs solution

I've messed up my backups and removed all data from my network drive but Acronis retains all the task data.  How do I remove all my prior TI data and start over?  TI 2015 Build 6613

Kenneth, you should be able to open the main Acronis GUI and then take the option to remove the backup tasks for each task that still exists, this in turn will remove any reference to the tasks in the Acronis database files.

See the ATIH 2015 User Guide: Backup operations menu which has a graphic showing the option to remove a task from the list of tasks.

Somehow I made the backups on the main menu disappear and have used file explorer to remove all the backup data.  But when I create a new full backup (never did that before so there are no remnants) and try to validate it I get a message that says "cannot find version 6".  Ignoring 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 leads to inability to validate the new full backup because "cannot find version 1".  I don't even know what I'm looking for in "version 1".

Kenneth, for the 'cannot find version..' messages, this suggests that the Acronis Database has gotten into a state, and the best remedy for this is to rename the current database folder to Database.old

To do this, you must first shutdown all Acronis Services and Processes so that you are not going to hit locked files etc.

Use the Windows Task Manager to end any running Acronis tasks, and use the Services.MSC console to stop any running Acronis services (do a search on Services.MSC and click on the result when found).

In Windows Explorer navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome where you will find the Database folder - rename this then just launch the main Acronis application which will restart all required services / programs again and create a new Database folder and files.

Did you use the same name as the old backup again?  If so, there may still be a database link to the old name for the new job.  I would always recommend using a new, unique name for each newly created backup job.  If you want it to be similar, at least append something different ot the end such as _A, _B, or something like that if you want to stick with the existing name.

Thank you.  Sounds like exactly what I need to undo my previous faulty construct.

I apologize for the delay in recognizing your help.  I've obviously been distracted by other work.  Good New Year's resolution for me is to reconstruct my Acronis backups properly and then forget them.
