Clone 32bit to 64bit?

Thread needs solution

Hello, can I clone my 32bit comp and transfer to a 64bit comp? I have Win 7 Ultimate on my old comp. I can't put my 32bit HD into the new 64bit tower because it won't read it. Is there any other solutions? I just want all my stuff and apps into the new comp. Thanx

The Plus Pack's Universal Restore feature would allow you to restore a backup image to dissimilar hardware. But, what you want is to restore to a different operating system, and that isn't possible with Acronis True Image. Windows 64-bit is a different operating system from Windows 32-bit.

You can make a backup and use it to restore your user data (Word docs, photos, etc.). But, you'll need to install the applications yourself.

Actually, you should be able to run the 32-bit version of Windows 7 fine on the newer computer, but it's probably going to waste resources (I assume the new computer has more RAM available). Universal Restore should allow you to move it and get it running.
