Is a Clone a Clone?

Thread needs solution

With True Image 2013, can i make a "clone" of my C drive (SSD) on to a blank SSD for safe keeping AND THEN if i have a fatal issue with the original C drive, can i take the back up "clone" and simply install it where the original C drive was and keep going? In other words, can I just swap out the drives without doing any recovery from the clone drive, just pull the bad one out of the cpu and put the cloned drive in it's place. REASON: I am running high end audio recording software in a live environment. If need be, I need to be able to recover my OS (Win 7 64 bit), Programs, Plug-in authorizations in the C drive as fast as possible. I have removable slots for the C drive AND the Clone drive. (all the recording files are on a third drive.)

Yes, you can do that.
Remember to do clones from the recovery CD, not starting from Windows.
Remember also NOT to leave the clone and the original in the system when you reboot Windows.

Another way to achieve business continuity is to use hardware RAID 1+ for the system disk. You can still backup/restore this setup in case the RAID failed to meet your expectations.

what happens if you leave the clone and the original in the system when you reboot Windows?

It is often a mess. Windows gets confused, boot files get corrupted, activation software gets lost, both the source and the clone can get messed up.
