Clone Disk Operation - it's working but not per the Manual
In the process of cloning a laptop disk to an external USB prior to this system being redeployed to another employee.
Selecting the "Clone A Disk" will launch the GUI but will always result in a reboot being required and then absolutely nothing happens after that reboot. CPU usage is 1% - 4%, no HDD indicators flashing at either the source (internal) or destination (external USB).
I've booted off of a Recovery Disk which promptly went into the Windows O/S. Again, nothing happening in the background.
Then I launched Acronis True Image 2011 again, was told to reboot and I did so. It then entered essentially what is akin to a DOS session and is now at 10% completion.
What I do NOT understand is that nowhere in the manual does it even remotely address the issue of what I am seeing, either in text or with screenshots.
Anyone know what is going on here?
Thank you.

Thank you. It is indeed a ThinkPad.
"...as a Thinkpad needs a reverse clone (target in intended boot position".
Not quite sure I follow. If that is the case, what is going on with this (for lack of a better term) old-style DOS window that I am seeing? Right now the current operation progress is at 59%, total progress 56.
The idea behind this is that laptop is to be redeployed as I mentioned, but the current user wants his data accessible to him down the road should he need it. In speaking with T/S today, they did say that this clone procedure would NOT create an image file but would rather mirror the directory structures.
Any help greatly appreciated and thank you again.

You need to make a disk and partition backup, not a clone. This will produce an image of the disk from the sector level information packed in a TIB file.

Thanks Pat. A disk image (.TIB) is exactly what I do not want. I want the entire contents viewable via Windows Explorer as if looking at the original Volume.
Having said that, the process has completed and I've got what I need: a searchable disk identical to the original and viewable on any Win-7 system (which I have just verified by connecting the external to a Toshiba).
Thanks!
