Clone disk is overwriting backup every time??
Hi, I am using Acronis True Image Home 2010, and I use it to Clone my 120GB SSD C:\ (and D:\ 100MB system partition) every night at 3am.
This is my desire as when I experience an HD crash, I will be able to reimage a drive with my disk image as it were at 3am the night before.
However, I noticed now after a few backups that it is just overwriting the filename.tib every time. Is there a way to prepend/append a dynamic variable like a date or timestamp on the filename so it can create multiple revisions of my cloned disk image?
I noticed the Backup Options can let me limit my # of backups, but I have it set to not limit and I set it to keep backups for 100 days, so I should have a few by now.
Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance!

Are you using the latest build of TI 2010 (7,046)?
Have you tried recreating the backup task?

Check the log and see what it says about rule violation detected and how it tries to resolve the violation -- this should b at athe end of the log entries for a particular backup.
Certainly try mudcrab's advice.
If that doesn't help, then set the limit to specific number of backups and uncheck the other limits, and see if this works, then we can work backward from there to see what in the rules isn't working right.
If you don't want to bother with all that, then you can try setting up chain2gen, which is a set of batch files a user has put together to manage the name and number of backups so all ATI has to do is make the backup files.

Thanks for the replies!!
I can't find the logs anywhere? Any pointers?? I looked in C:\Program Files\Acronis\ too - nothing! I event checked Event Viewer (Windows 7).
As for updates, I'm running True Image 2010 build 5.055. I went to acronis.com and found no updates for True Image 2010, and the other True Image updates (like v9) were from 6-12 months ago, so I'll assume I have the latest updates for TI 2010.
I have checked the number of backups (set to 5) and unchecked the limits, but nothing changes it. It just keeps overwriting the filename. I think it does not support multiple versions of backups unless you do a "backup". I'm doing a "clone disk". If I could feed in a variable like a timestamp into the filename, that would solve this.
Alternatively, I can just rename the newly made clone file every morning LOL!!

Build 7,046 is the latest for TI 2010. It should be available in your Acronis account (you need to log in to get it). Build 5,055 was the first release and quite buggy.
