Clone function not working on SATA drive

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis true image home 2011 update 3 Build 6942 with Windows Vista. Previously, I created a clone of my SATA system hard drive and swapped out the new drive. I just attempted to do this again with a new SATA drive. I tried the process hooking up the new drive via USB (with a SATA adapter), as I'd successfully done before. I went through the steps to create a clone and clicked "Proceed." The process started, with a "disk cloning progress...calculating" message. Then I got a message stating the process with unsuccessful. I disconnected my other USB storage drive, turned off my antivirus software (Trend Micro) and tried again. Same message. I then connected the new drive directly to the computer with a SATA connection. I went through the cloning process with and without my antivirus program on and with my other USB storage drive disconnected. The Acronis program recognizes the drive and all seems fine until I click "proceed." Now, I don't even get the "process failed" message. The process just stops and there's no indication it's ongoing. When I check the Task Manager, Acronis is running, but no cloning. My next step seems to be reinstalling Acronis. Any other suggestions?

If you are not using the Acronis Rescue Media to perform the clone, I would suggest that you try it instead of running the clone operation from within Windows.

I used the Rescue Media and had the same problem. I was trying to clone two SATA SSDs and the operation went fine with no errors detected. But when I tried to boot with either disk after cloning (new one should have been marked active boot disk) neither of the disks would boot. Furthermore, when I used Microsofts Recovery Operations from the Windows 7 install disk, there was no Operating system recognized (on either disk!)

I am using an ASUS P877-V Pro Motherboard and Intel 3570 CPU. Windows 7 Full OEM.

Beside my Account on my Licences at Acronis, I have a download option. Is that Boot Disk iso option equipped to fix this problem? I need to recover my original Windows 7 Disk (or the clone) and get back my Programs and settings.

Furthermore, I also tried to restore a third SATA SSD from an ACRONis Backup file I had. The program would not recognise the SATA Drive, either in Enhanced mode or when I reset it to IDE mode.
Need some help please.
