Clone Move vs Copy in True 'image Home 2010
I have been using True Image for several years. I have always used the Clone function to make a backup of my entire hard disk in case of a catastrophic failure. In the previous versions during the cloning setup (manual mode) there was always an option to COPY the source disk instead of MOVING all of the content to the destination disk. Since I was creating a backup clone, I always chose COPY.
I am now getting ready to migrate to Windows 7 from Vista and want to have a backup clone in case things don't go well. I now find that there is no step that specifies COPY vs MOVE. When running the Clone wizard it talks about moving the data from source to destination. To me that indicates that the source information will be deleted during the process, which I don't want. I need to know how I can copy-clone my source disk like I used to, leaving the source intact.

Thanks for the reply DwnNDrty. I guess it never was an issue for me in previous versions, since the wizard always asked if I wanted to keep the original (source). Now they've done away with that and it worries me. I believe I will do something similar to what you suggest and prove to myself that the original is intact.

Well, I can tell anyone who happens across this thread that the "MOVE" step in Clone, True Image Home 2010, does not MOVE anything. It COPIES the contents of the source drive to the destination drive. When I finished this operation I have a true Clone - that is, two separate drives that are identical in the information they hold. You no longer have to make a decision regarding this if you use the Manual mode, but at least the end result is what it should be. Acronis, you really need to consider the difference between COPY and MOVE, and correct the wording in the Clone wizard.

Glad you found out and it was what you wanted. It must be something to do with the translation from Russian to English that doesn't distinguish between MOVE and COPY.
