Clone my old hard drive onto a new machine - Acronis 2013

Hi guys, looking for a little bit of guidance/help. My existing PC is showing signs of old age and I would like to buy a new one and just use the old one as a reserve machine so the hardware will be completely different does anybody know if I can use a clone of my existing drive to run a new PC? as I am put off from buying a new PC by the time it would take to install several years of programs. my existing machine runs windows 7 and I believe its set at 32bit.
