Clone/ Restore to RAID

Thread needs solution

Appreciate clarification of below:
I have two hard drives (sysytem + data) and plan to create RAID of these two. System disk image is on the external HD.
How can I transfer system disk in such a case if possible?
Can I clone it or restore using Аcronis created boot CD?

I have RAID1 setup for my system disk and have been using ATI to back it up and restore it since version 7 or so. While I have rejected ATI 11, 12, and 13 due to the unreasonably poor quality, I have been able to do simple backup and restores with each.

With versions 10 and 11, I had to get special iso files to be able to burna bootCD that had the right drivers to recognize the RAID correctly.

IF ATI recognizes the RAID correctly (as a single ological disk and not multiple disks (or worse, not at all), then backing up/restoring (onthe same machine) should be the same as it would be if the array was just a single hdisk.

Thank you for your reply, seems none of Acronis officials is interested what's going on here :-)))
Alas I have no RAID on my computer yet. I have some SATA and I want to switch to RAID and avoid reinstalling system and soft.
Thus my idea is:
- create system SATA image (Ihave one actually) on external drive;
- arrange RAID of SATA disks;
- restore mage to RAID;
- be happy!!!!
I still I have doubts, that it is possible with ATIH.

Where you are going to run in to truble with this methid is that the sourc eimage ihas drivers for nonRAID installed and then you want to install it to a RAID -- so when you boot up it will try to loa dthe nonRAID driver and won't address your drives properly. The hardware has to be the same for the restore to work.

Your best bet is to backup the SATA and restore to you new disk(s)s set up as SATA then create a RAID after having restored. Most decent RAID chipsets (like INtels) can build a RAID array preserving all the data on the source disk.

That's what I expect.
Thank you.
Anyway will try to find out more somewhere.
My motherboard is quite old, afraid it has no such possibility (chipset ICH9R). At least I did not find any hints on this in manual.
