Cloned SSD --> HD; now how to point back to SSD?

Thread needs solution

I cloned my SSD onto a HD. That worked great.
The system is now running off of the HD. How can i point it back to the SSD and make that drive C again?

Are both drives in the PC? Did you boot after the Clone (it sounds as though you did). Windows may now have marked the SSD as unbootable.

Windows doesn't allow multiple boot drives concurrently, so one will become unbootable, and it may not be the one you intend which is why Clone is not usually a good backup method. It's far better and safer to use full disk Backups, and restore one wheen you need to change drives.

Alan,
If this is the first step as listed in your other link.

You should disconnect the SSD and continue the steps to create the other partitions on the HD.

Alan,

The simplest way is possible if you have a windows installation DVD:
- unplug the HD, leaving only the SSD in,
- reboot the computer. If it doesn't boot:
- reboot the computer on the windows installation DVD,
- choose install, repair computer, repair startup. It might take a couple of passes.

Once the computer can boot off the SSD. You can plug the HD back in and boot.

If the windows DVD cannot repair it, let us know.

If your comfortable with getting into your BIOS, go into it and find the part to set boot priority. If you see both drives
listed set the ssd to be first. If you just cloned the HD from the SSD I dont see why the SSD isnt still bootable. I obviously cant give you direct
steps on doing this since I know nothing about your system, different motherboard use different steps. Shouldnt be too hard to figure out though.
