Cloning an HDD from a preexisting Acronis backup source

Thread needs solution

Is there a way to replicate completely a failed HDD by a backup image made by ATI 2014?

The "Clone disk" functionality requires the physical presence of the source HDD.
The "Add new disk" feature requires all necessary partitions to be created and configured manually.

What I need is an easy way (if possible) to recreate all partitions (NTFS, some Linux ext stuff, boot info) from the original failed drive.

Here are the steps to recover an backup image:

Please note that under step 3 is a notation box stating that if you backed up an entire disk meaning you used the Disk Mode feature to create the backup, you can recover the image as an entire disk by clicking the "switch to disk mode" option. That is the easiest way to recover an entire disk image.

Thank you very much for your answer, Enchantech! On my bootable ATI CD however I don't see a disk mode. Am I again missing something or I have to use ATI running from a Windows OS?

In the bootable CD on the recovery screen once you have chosen the .tib file to recover you should notice a check box to the left of and next to Disk 1. Checking that box will include all partitions contained in the .tib file thus recovering the entire disk.

Thank you once again, Enchantech!
Does the new HDD have to be preformatted - it was not recognized by ATI in its uninitialized state. What I managed to achieve is restore some partitions through the Add new disk option. The Linux ones are gone though. I am aware there were some issues backing up ext formatted partitions; they had to be backed up sector by sector - is there now an easier way to do this?
