Cloning old drive to new drive (Windows 7)

Thread needs solution

I've never used the clone function so this will be my first. Currently I have my computer running on my C: drive. I will then hook up two hard drives; E: (which will be the data filled hard drive) and F: (which will be the new blank one.) How do I go about cloning E: to F:? When finished, F: needs to be a bootable hard drive just like E: is. (Windows 7)

Why do you want to clone? Is this for backup purposes?

I have a 2tb hard drive. It is partitioned into two logical drives. I have used Acronis software for years and had no problem cloning this drive and it's two partitions. I do the cloning to have a ready available drive if something drastically happens to my original system drive. I went to clone my system drive today, but was notified of an update to my Acronis software. I accepted an installed the new update. I then went to the business of cloning my system drive. Disk one to Disk seven. Used As is and went to bed. In the morning I found out that Acronis DID NOT clone my Disk one exactly. It only copied partition one and allocated just space for my partion two, the data for partition two was not copied. I tried again today and got the same results. It will not clone both the partitions of Disk one to Disk seven. Is there a problem with the new software or what to I have to do to get an exact clone of my system drive?

I've been trying to figure out your post and how it connects with the first post, when I suddenly noticed you're not the OP. Please, it is not helpful to start a new help topic in an existing thread. Your issue may have no connection to the issue in this thread. Plus, you provided no detail: I don't know what operating system you're using, whether you used Windows or the bootable media to attempt the clone, whether ATI sees all your partitions, etc. If you want help on this issue, please open a new thread with relevant details.
