Cloning ThinkPad X230 to SSD Fails

Hello,

I am trying to clone a 500 GB ThinkPad X230 drive (HGST SATA 6.0 GB/s) to a crucial SSD (1 TB SATA, 6 GB/s), but the cloned drive fails to boot.

I made a USB bootable drive with TI2015 and cloned by externally attaching the old 500 GB drive via USB and internally placing the new SSD. TI tells me the cloning was successful, but then when I boot the system with the new drive (old drive disconnected), windows start screen shows for minutes, then I get a brief blue screen of death that I can't read, and then a restart.

I tried the procedure twice, but it still does not work. I can't seem to find the right item in the forum to help me (not a super sophisticated computer user).
