Configuration File

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I'm using TIH 2011 on Win7 64-bit machine. On my computer my Windows userprofile is saved via symlinks to partition D. I make regular with Acronis images of this drive D. Today i restored an older image of D and suddenly 2 other backupjobs in Acronis changed there status to "never saved before" (forgive my bad translation i use the german version). This is not true they have been used before and didn't have this status, till today. So i conclude that there must be a configuration file somwhere in the Windows userprofile, that has been changed.

What and where does Acronis save settings?

Since the help of a fine man named Pat L i already know of the archive.xlm under C:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database but as i understood its only for matching Backups to a Backup Job. There must be more as my experiment showed...

What you see is probably ATI reverting to an older version of its database after the restore, and then "discovering" backups that are more recent than the backup you restore.

What I do, whenever I restore an image, is that I delete the existing backup tasks and I create new ones. For safety, I manually move the existing TIB files to another director, and I leave them there for a while until I decide to get rid of them manually. To prevent ATI from "discovering" them, I put them in a hidden folder (although you can disable archive scanning, it doesn't look like it prevents ATI from scanning anyway).

Hi Pat,

yeah but is there no info where Acronis saves its settings in the User profile - i think this would really cut the errror rate of backups if one would know which files from acronis lay where. You could just backup those files and propably all this business with Backups which are not recognized anymore and other strange things would just vanish. Worth a try i guess...
