Consolidation TIH 2014

Thread needs solution

I have a customer that uses TIH 2014. He backs up over WiFi to a NAS in his appartment next door. This seems to run fine until the point is reached where consolidation starts.

Consolidation hangs at about 5% for 2 days now. I already recreated the job and deleted all the tib but it did not help.

It is a incremental scheme where either every 10 days automatic clean up of older versions should take place.

Looking at the task manager I can not detect any activity whatsoever. Any chance to solve this or do I have to tell my customer to get the 2016 version and hope for improvement?

Hi David,

No back up software should be used in this manner.  You cannot back up over wi-fi with ANY assurance or level of certainty in regards to data integrity.  There is nothing else to say.  Any back ups that were successful were pure luck.  Best advice...  Tell them not to back up over wi-fi.

Thanks for your reply. I set up the NAS in their office and consolidation seems to work now. The Backups over wifi did work, we've tested several recovery scenarios that worked perfectly. I had the initial Backup of over 300GB done via LAN and their incremental backups which only were about 10GB every day done over wifi.

Nevertheless I told the costumer that wifi is not supported. And if he wants to keep the current setup it is at his own risk.

OK my previous Post was too early consilidation failed again. This time over LAN. Any ideas?

Hello David,

Thank you for your posting! Unfortunately consolidation feature has been removed from the current product versions, that't why we can not recommend upgrade option. Have you checked the logfiles? Are there any error messages? These articles could be helpful:

As the workaround you may want to consider to alter the backup scheme (e.g. to create full backups more often).

Thank you,
