Control Panel/Explorer Errors
Ok, I've done a search but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. I keep getting a "Windows Explorer" error when attempting to go through Control Panel for backup. Actually, it is not when I try to do a back up but when I just try and expand the Control Panel Window, at the time of the error, TIH 11 is what's being displayed in the window. I cannot for some reason expand/contract window at all. Explorer keeps shutting down and then restarting. Is this an issue that is coming up with anyone else? Is it something Acronis already knows about and is working on? Thanks much for your time.

Ok, well, the icon that was created and put on my desktop says "Acronis True Image Home 2011". Did I report having v11, or 2011? I can't remember and I cannot at this time view my previous msg while I'm replying to yours. At any rate, what I said in quotes up there is correct.
Thanks for the response.
EDIT: :) looks like I inadvertantly said TIH 11 and I meant to say TIH 2011.

What build of 2011 are you using and on what OS?
Do you have the TIH option of integrating into Windows selected or deselected? You will find that option on the Help menu in the TIH GUI.

Hi, thanks for the reply Colin. Build 6597 and Windows 7 Home Premium 64b. In regards to the other part of the question, yes, I have it set up for integration. That's where the problem occurs. When I go to Control Panel (and it is in Category View), click on Back up your computer, then the Explorer Box that comes up cannot be resized in any way without Explorer shutting down and the restarting each time I try to resize it. I'm resizing it because a lot of the times when I initially get into this one area, the ATIH 2011 part of the box is not correctly aligned, nor is it at the top of the box, and resizing it pops it into place. Well, I was only able to do that 1 time, each of the other times I've tried it, it has errored out as described.

I suggest you disable the integration with the control panel and use ATI program to view the backup list. This part of the integration is flaky from my experience. For example, what you see in the control panel might not be the same as what you see in ATI. Although the backup list in ATI has still some updating issue (backup status ribbons), it works better than in the Control Panel.

@DirtyDawg,
Have you tried a repair install if TI 2011, this might correct whatever registry entry didn't work or DLL that hasn't registered itself.

Pat: If it's at all possible, I would rather use the program as its designed. I upgraded for the entire package .. if you catch my drift. I will however keep your suggestion in mind for future reference, thanks.
Colin: I'm assuming that you are talking about going through the uninstall process and within that process (via the Windows Uninstall process) it allows for a Repair option? Is this what you mean? Thanks.

To use the TrueImage Home repair option:
1. Restart the TrueImageHome install program (the downloaded file for the latest build.
2. Click on install.
3. Shortly thereafter, you will be presented with a windows offering the repair or modirfy screen.
4. Click on the repair option.
Note: the Windows Add/remove options are not used.

Thank you, I'll keep this in mind for future use. For some odd reason, I haven't had any problems with it again since last coming to the forum. So my thought is "don't mess with it if it's not broke" :). So if and when it starts up again, I'll follow your suggestion. Thanks for the reply.
