The size of the backup file will be about 65-70% of your used space. You should consider using an external drive rather than multiple DVD's.

Joe,
Just to clarify; when you say want a "bootable copy of my "C" drive so that if I make changes to it that cause a problem I can recover back to a known good install", I guess you mean you just want to restore your C: drive to the state it was before a problem occurred?
Correct?
What you need to do to achieve this is a disk and partition backup... Cloning is making an exact copy of a disk to another disk, generally for the purpose of replacing a disk with another. Backing up is the more common objective. The disk that you backup up *to* is not bootable per se, but the image you put there can restore your main drive or entire system to where it was before.
I have seen this confusion of terms in this forum before.
I hope this helps.

If I do the disk/partition backup to a removable drive and my computer won't boot to Windows due to me screwing it up. How do I recover the backup if the removable disk is not bootable and I can't boot to my C drive? Thanks

You would boot the computer using the TI Recovery CD or a TI flash drive. Once TI is running you can restore from the backup image normally. The TI recovery CD or flash drive can be created using TI. An alternative is to download the ISO version from your Acronis account and create a CD from it.
