Credentials block with TI v11 Home
I reinstalled TI v11 (build 8,101).
This used to work, but now doesnt.
I am running XP Home and backing up to an external drive attached to a Vista machine.
I use no login credentials for any machine.
I can establish a back up of My Data and run it "manually later" no problem.
However, when I try to schedule this for a weekly backup, the dialogue box wants me to type in credentials of User Name and Password.
I dont know what name or password the dialogue box wants?????
No matter what I type in user name or password, the dialogue box tells me that it is incorrect.
And to make it even more wierd: I have a back up established of my email and the dialogue box does not ask for credentials to schedule it weekly.
Surely this is a bug in True Image. Whats up anyone know?

A similar question so I thought I'd post here... I've changed my login password on Windows 7 and now True Image Home 2011 won't perform any backups stating that my credentals are invalid. How do I change my password in the TI2011 credentials?

thorneNY,
You need to edit the task and supply a new password in the scheduler page for each task.
For most success, you really need to start over with new tasks because editing often causes more problems.
The password that Acronis wants is your login password to windows.

GroverH, Thanks for the reply. I see no option to change my password on the scheduler page. Here's how I navigate: List backups > select "Operations" for given backup > select "Edit Backup Settings" from menu > click on existing schedule link. All I see is options to select daily, etc, and time. Advanced Settings has only 3 checkboxes that have nothing to do with password. Woudl appreciate your providing the exact steps to get to the password changing dialog. I'm using True Image Home 2011. Thanks!

thorneNY,
The information I provided was not current for your version. My apologies.
I do not know the answer for your specific situation but here is something you might try. It should correct your situation but whether it actually will, I am unsure.
1. Delete all your existing tasks
2. Restart the TI most current install package (build 6857) and choose the Repair option.
This will install TI over the top of the existing package.
3. Recreate all new tasks.
Thorne,
You might want to want and see if any of the others offer any alternative suggestions.

ThorneNY,
When does the error appear? When you launch ATI? When you launch a backup manually? When a scheduled backup launches?

Pat L - I get the error in the log when the scheduled task runs. The error code I get is unrecognized by Acronis online. But the error says that authentication failed. I hate that I have to change my password all the time as I am the only user of the computer on which TI2011 runs. If there were a way I can run without authentication, that would be my preference.

Thorne, so it is not a scheduler problem, right? The task starts, but ATI cannot authenticate. Right? This sounds like authentication to the destination. Would that make sense?... Is your destination a mapped drive?

Pat L - I am backing up local hard drives to a separate, local hard drive used exclusively for backups. The destination is not a mapped drive which would mean a remote drive. This is all on my single machine.

Try this before you delete your tasks.
Download the Acronis Schedule Manager and follow the instructions of this link to delete the current schedule, uninstall and reinstall the scheduler service:
http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859
Set up your schedule in your backup task.

Pat L - That didn't work. Guess I have to delete all backup tasks and start over. I hate Acronis sometimes. This is utter <TOU violation>.

Yes, the next step is to:
- export your backup settings,
- uninstall ATI,
- reboot,
- reinstall,
- import your backup settings.
If this doesn't work, we will have to use the cleanup utility. Let us know.

I want this <TOU violation> off my system. Please tell me how to uninstall it and clean it completely off my Windows 7 machine. This software has been nothing but problem after problem.

Hi all,
Thank you for your comments and help!
thorneNY, I'm really sorry for you've faced this inconvenience. The software can be removed from the system by means of Acronis True Image Home 2011 CleanUp utility.
I have consulted with the development team regarding the possible cause of the problem, and they are confident that the issue should disappear after the clear reinstallation and newest Scheduler Update. We would appreciate if you could give it a try, though we will entirely understand if you decide not to.
Should you decide to try it, and the issue remains, please send us directly the following data: Acronis Info and screenshot of the error.
Please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.
Thank you.
