Custom Scheme and Options lost

Thread needs solution

Installation of latest version 6673 failed. Had to uninstall previous version first and then re-install 6673.
So far... so good...
I've now lost my "Custom Scheme" (and other Backup options).
Can I find it back in my last night's backup and re-activate somehow???
ATI2014 MUST have stored them "somewhere" but I'm unable to find information on how to put back my nice Custom Scheme.

TrueImage stores this information in an Acronis folder named "scripts".
The files have an extension of ".tib.tis"
You can copy these *.tib.tis" from your backup into the current scrpts folder and that may provide what you are looking for.
These copied files should appear on your main menu as backup tasks.
These files can also be viewed in Notepad. Only copy the files which you need.br />
Win 7 path
users/all users/Acronis/scripts

@GroverH
Thanks!
However...
The location (Win8.1) is in fact
C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts.
The folder "users/all users" does point to the ProgramData folder in Windows Explorer. But it is empty when browsing in the Acronis backup of the drive.
The files do contain "Backup Options" but NO custom scheme information.

I managed to locate that information: it's in the Windows Registry.
Weird place to store something that one wants to restore after a re-installation of ATI.
That is why I lost my custom scheme after uninstalling and re-installing ATI.

There should be a way to "export" or backup a custom scheme for restoration whenever needed. And the Registry is not the place for that.

Hey VIM,

I think you may have found an answer to an issue many users have had with TI not allowing changes to a backup scheme in some instances and users are forced to create new backups. Thanks for posting this.

AHA!
In order not to lose them: let's all write down the details of our Custom Schemes on a piece of paper. Way to go for users of backup software!

VIM,
Any chance you giving us the registry path where this info resides in 8.1? Thanks

Grover,

I do not have a Win 8 install currently, if you do you should try a search for Acronis in the registry which should lead you to the hive where you should be able to drill down to it.

Found it in
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-830269990-1465332706-603892xxx-xxxx\Software\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ProfilesStorage
(Replaced some characters by xxx as I've no idea what the numbers represent)

After a review of the registry setttings and the acronis folders, I am not exactly sure what we have. I will publish some captures sometime later.

The registry shows the contents of the backup scheme as it relates to the options selected.
It does not show any of the source folders or files selection in a intended "files backup".

I have also found that one of the scripts contains much of the same history information as contained in the archives.xml file as it relates to names for each of the backups, etc.

It would be possible to pre-export and later iimport the reg settings on a fresh install but even then, I am not sure where we are going to get the file selection which is to be included in order to truly have custom backup setting.

I believe this will involve much more study and testing.

This is also a possibility I had forgotten. I have NOT used this so no sure of what all might be included but it would seem to imply that this could exported and saved and later imported into a new installation.

The Export and Import function apparently DOES NOT restore named Custom Schedules.
- I ran the "Export backup settings"
- then removed one of my (named) Custom schedules,
- ran the "Import backup settings"...
- the named Custom schedule is NOT restored.

If anyone knows of a good reason why Custom Schedules are saved in the Windows Registry only...?

Not me! But I do agree with you it is a poor pplace for them. I also think it is causing other problems I see posted here on the Forum as well.
