Delete Backup deletes wrong files

Thread needs solution

Prior to doing a complete hard disk backup, I tried to delete some old backups from my backup hard disk and Acronis deleted totally different backups to the ones I had selected.
Not only that, the current backup is not shown in the log even though it exists on the hard disk.
Anyone else with these problems or solutions.

I'm guessing that the database in ati is corrupted. You can try deleting the database, then restart ati and it will build a new one.

I suggest runnig a chkdsk to be sure you don't have any file system errors.

With ATI closed navigate to this folder: C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database

Delete the .xml file from the Database folder.

Now restart ATI and see if it find the tibs.

Scott - i have a similar problem - when I try to delete a backup task ("remove" the task) nothing happens - the task "box" stays right where it was. Think this too is a db problem?

I can suggest five things starting with the very simplest, which sounds too simple, but I confess it happened to me:

1) make sure than the box indeed is not removed. Soemtimes there is more than one box showing for backups (e.g. several tibs that you thought were all one group are showing individually) and one one is deleted the others move up and the screen update happens in a blink.

2) tell ATI to rescan for backups.

3) Exit and restart ATI.

If none of those is any help, then

4) you can do one of two things, try again to delete in ATI -- it might tell yu it can't find the database and ask if you want it removed form the list. Tell it yes.

5) Use windows Explorer to navigate to the backup in quesiton and delete it. then restart ATI and if it is still on the list do step 4.

Thanks - Had already tried 1 - 3, ended at 5 successfully (although I did have to use "browse for backups" to point it at some of my backups (perhaps it would have found them eventually - they are on multiple drives).
