Deleting individual files from backup

Thread needs solution

I had to move a set of files from one hard drive to another.  When the backup process ran it, obviously, backed up the moved files in the new location.  Result: I have redundant backups of those files at the old location.  I'd like to delete the unnecessary old files from the backup.

Is it possible to delete individual files from a backup?

Thank you.

Robert, simple answer is no, not possible.  All Acronis backups are read-only archives which cannot be modified after creation.

The only way to achieve your desired backup would be to create a new backup without the files you want to omit / exclude.

Keep in mind that if you are using incremental or differential backups, those changes are omitted in the next backups.  So although, you would have them in say the original full, but moved them and then backed up, the files would only exist in the one place in that incremental instead of both locations if you wanted to recover from that incremental.

The backups are a snapshot in time of what the backup location looked like as soon as the backup started.
