Deletion of my post (Acronis True Image 2010 - CleanUp)

Thread needs solution

Hello,

my last post has been deleted, perhaps because of my frustrated tone. I apologize if I have been too harsh, but I am really frustrated.

It took me one hour to put together this posting and sum up the current situation. I politely ask you to
send me my posting that you deleted as a PM so I can re-write it in a more neutral tone and post it on a tech support forum elsewhere.

The URL - now defunct due to you deletion- was: forum.acronis.com/forum/30726

Thank you.

Hello Matthias!

From what I understand your thread on the Acronis forum was deleted because you double posted. Is this correct?

I had some trouble finding your old deleted thread, but I have found it and I have read it. Your main concern is how to remove Acronis True Image 2010 from your computer. Is this correct?

You said you ran into big problems installing/uninstalling True Image 2010 on your Windows 7 computer. What kind of problems? Did the problem occure during installation or during uninstall of Acronis True Image 2010? Also, did you get any error messages?

You mention reading some complicated instructions that were posted by Acronis. What instructions are you talking about? Do you have the URL to the instructions post you talk about? You also said something about Microsoft products referenced to in these instructions. You also said that these Microsoft products were not officially supported on Windows 7. What Microsoft products do you mean?

You also said that "just giving it a try" may lead to a "melt down" of Windows 7. Is this something you found out on your own? Or was this mentioned, as a precaution, in the Acronis instructions you speak of?

Matthias, did you actually follow instructions given to you by Acronis personnel or instructions mentioned in a post/article which then led to the point where your computer started crashing and showing BSODs? Did you try contacting the official Acronis technical support?

If you are interested in seeing your old thread for the purpose of using the text to post a new thread on a forum other than Acronis forums, you can try using Google Cache.

What you can do is basically do a Google search and when you see the search result you want you can move the mouse cursor to the right side of the search result link. You will see a double arrow button appear. Move the cursor over this button and you will see the Instant Preview which is part of the new interface of Google Search. On the Preview, you will see a link where it says "Cached" right beside another link named "Similar" which shows similar pages.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=forum.acronis.com%2Fforum%2F30726

This is the basic idea of how to view cached pages on Google. But the Cached button will not always appear for all the search results. This is the case with the cache of your old thread here on Acronis forums. It is simply shown in the Preview, but there is no "Cached" link. So to view it you will have to do a Google search for "cache: forum.acronis.com/forum/30726".

To get an idea on how to view pages that were cached by Google, see the following page:

http://www.googleguide.com/cached_pages.html

If the above methods fail you can use the http://webcache.googleusercontent.com URL followed by "search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cache%3A". Then you add up the URL of the web page or website for which you want to view currently cached version.

The most simple answer would be: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q…

P.s. You won't be hurt by doing some reading and research. Since you say you consider yourself to be an advanced user, then you should know all these things, and it should not be a problem for you to re-install you Windows 7. Sometimes, it's the best solution available when the installation gets corrupted, and sometimes it's the only way around certain problems with Windows. My guess is that Acronis True Image 2010 alone did not create the problem or problems you are experiencing. It's usually a combination of things. The driver you mention though is part of Acronis True Image feature Try & Decide. I would recommend you to stop using Try & Decide. If a feature is problematic just don't use it. As simple as that. And you can't really push for an update, the best thing you can do is just hope that it will be solved in the next update or the next major version. For instance, since you say you also have a license for the 2011 True Image that you never even used, why not try using that version?

Hello Matthias and Sameer,

Thank you for your posts and thank you for your assistance Sameer.

Matthias, in addition to Sameer's valuable suggestions, I believe I have found your older thread where we were discussing issues with uninstalling Acronis True Image 2010 Home. You can find it here.

I would really appreciate if you continue posting there so that we can the discussion in one place.

Thank you.
